During your stay at the Lion D’Or Hotel in Bayeux, take the opportunity to visit Bayeux, the city that remained miraculously unscathed during the 1944 conflict. Visit the Notre Dame cathedral, a masterpiece from the Middle Ages. It was, in fact, for this very cathedral that Queen Mathilda’s famous tapestry was woven in the 11th century, today exhibited at the William the Conqueror Centre. At the Baron Gérard Museum, you will find a collection of paintings from the 15th-19th centuries, collections of applied arts (porcelain and Bayeux lace) as well as a section dedicated to the region’s archaeology.

At the Battle of Normandy Memorial Museum, visitors can find out about the series of operations and fights that took place between 6 June and 29 August 1944. This museum is located near the British military cemetery in Bayeux.
